Baan Suriyasai @ Surawongse

174 Surawong Rd, Suriya Wong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

Descriptions

Baan Suriyasai (บ้านสุริยาศัย) is a Michelin-listed, fine-dining Thai restaurant housed inside a stunning, beautifully restored 100-year-old Victorian-Thai colonial mansion on Surawong Road. Originally built during the reign of King Rama VI for the prominent, aristocratic Bunnag family, the estate serves as a living museum. It perfectly preserves the architecture of a bygone era, featuring white-washed wood structures, intricate fretwork, and lush, manicured lawns that instantly transport guests away from the modern skyscrapers of the surrounding Bang Rak district.

The culinary concept focuses on preserving rare and vanishing Royal Thai Cuisine. Every dish is treated as a piece of art, meticulously prepared using century-old techniques and family recipes passed down through royal households. The kitchen emphasizes delicate balances of flavors—sweet, sour, salty, and spicy—and elevates the presentation with custom, ornate tableware. Beyond the main dining room, the estate boasts The Content Bar, a sophisticated jazz and cocktail lounge that crafts drinks infused with traditional Thai medicinal herbs, and a highly popular Afternoon Tea experience that pairs artisanal loose-leaf teas with intricate, handcrafted Thai sweets.
